Mary Ellen Minerd-Rodeheaver, Etta Minerd-McDowell, Blanche Minerd-McCabe
Daughters of James C. and Survina (Younger) Minerd, left to right.

Mary Ellen sent two sons to World War II, but only one returned alive. Her son Harold "Frank" Rodeheaver was killed in the Battle of the Bulge, one of at least 14 Minerd family cousins to have lost their lives serving their country in wartime. He is buried at Lafayette Memorial Park in Brier Hill, near Uniontown, PA.

Several of Etta's offspring have served as educators at the high school and college levels in Pennsylvania and West Virginia.
