Mark Miner recently spent a day in the National Archives in Washington, DC, doing additional deep research into Minerd

James Minerd Jr. and his twin brother William were born on Sept. 20, 1840 at Wharton Furnace, Fayette County, PA, the sons of James and Sarah (Walters) Minerd Sr. James and 2 brothers served together in the same Civil War regiment, and James was wounded in a battle in Virginia. The remote, neglected cemetery where James is buried has been the focus of a cleanup and mapping effort by our reunion officials and community volunteers. more ....
